We had pretty good feedback for our “Amazing Fishing Stories” series. As you will see, some submissions were amazing, some were heartwarming and some were even a little goofy. But most of them were compelling in one way or another. Here are the favorites selected by the content staff here at FLWTour.com. We plan to run one reader-submitted story per day in our e-zine over the next couple weeks. Enjoy, happy holidays and keep on fishing.

Hubba Bubba hawgin’
by Edmond Brown, Trion, Ga.
I had taken the 11-year-old kid from next door fishing. I took only my bream hooks, bobbers and red wigglers. I usually only fish for bass but wanted him to catch fish and I knew that bream were easier to catch – especially from the bank.
Not long after we began fishing, a school of about 10 bass moved up the bank and began attacking our red wigglers. They broke our line twice and were too big for the small hooks we were using. I went back to my truck and could only find one rusty bass hook and a ragged plastic worm.
I rigged the worm up and let him cast it out. The bass hit it before it even had time to sink, and we caught two bass before they ripped the worm off. I couldn’t find anything else to tie on, so I got the crazy idea to try the Hubba Bubba bubblegum I was chewing. I stretched it and rolled it into the shape of a worm and put it on the hook. In the next 20 minutes we took turns landing a bunch of bass in the 3- to 4-pound range. We caught nine fish until one finally stole our bait. As the gum worm was sinking I saw a huge Florida largemouth inhale it and slowly swim off.
I went back the next day with my bass gear but only caught one small bass. The kid reached in his pocket and pulled out four packs of Hubba Bubba bubblegum. He tried in vain to catch a bass on the gum but they were gone.
