We drove out of the driveway at 4:30am. With one eye opened I managed to drive us to the airport. Our plane left at 6:30, and we had to connect in Chicago, where they had 9 inches of fresh snow. With a slight delay we flew on to Louisville, and from there on to Birmingham, where we arrived about 1:00. Picking up the dog at the kennel was next. He looked great, all clean and healed from his last kennel experience, and happy to see us. We left the vet and went to Sammy Lee’s house where we had stored the boat for the week. Had just a brief visit with Sammy and Penelope, but had to get on the road to Alexander City before it got dark. We arrived at Wind Creek State Park and got our site at 5pm. It was freezing. We managed to set the tent up in an hour and turn the heaters on. Craig Sahms is here and asked us to go out to eat, but we had been up since 4:00am and still had to get organized. We managed to stay up until nine but that was our limit. Decided to skip dinner and just go to bed.
