I’m hearing everyone complain about how tough the fishing is right now. In a big tournament held here last weekend it took only twelve pounds-a-day to win, and the weights went way down after that. People are blaming it on the fact that the water came up so quickly. Whatever the reason, I would have to agree that the fish are not biting the way I had expected them to. I’m not concerned though – I still think that if the weather stays warm and sunny, the fish will come up start eating before we leave.

I spent all day today with a flipping rod in my hands. I fished those trash-pockets the whole time, and had four or five bites doing it. That’s not too bad, especially considering that fishing should improve as the days go by. We had sunshine and temps in the high seventies today. Water temperature ranged from fifty-two to fifty eight, but for some reason in the last pocket I fished the water was up to sixty-two degrees. That will bring the fish up before too much longer.
