Garmin, one of the industry leaders in the development and manufacturing of Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation, sonar and communication technology, has announced that it is sweetening the pot for all FLW Outdoors events during the 2004 season. Winning anglers on the FLW Tour, in addition to first-place contestants in the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, Texas Tournament Trail, EverStart Series and RCL, will all be eligible for the Garmin Grand Giveaway – A $1,000 cash award designated for boat owners who have any combination of Garmin qualifying equipment.
“It’s a pretty neat deal,” said Craig Cushman, interactive and media marketing manager for Garmin International. “We’ve had a lot of fishermen interested in running Garmin Electronics in the past, and this just gives them another incentive to switch over to our products. Last year we gave away $65,000 at FLW Outdoors events, and we’re expanding our program this year to include the FLW Tour as well. We’re pretty excited. Anglers love anything you can do to give them incentives for owning the right equipment. And we’re just happy that we can reward them.”
Participation in the program has never been easier. There are no separate entry fees or forms to fill out. Simply win an FLW Outdoors event with a qualifying Garmin sonar product onboard your boat and walk away with $1,000 in cash.
Specific tournament requirements are as follows:
FLW Tour, EverStart Championship and RCL Walleye Tour Championship
* Angler’s boat must be equipped with qualifying Garmin units. All Garmin units must be verified by an FLW tournament director or FLW official prior to awarding of prize money.
* Angler must fish from qualifying boat on first and second day of event.
* Final day weigh-in and during event: Garmin logo must be worn on shirt or hat to receive payment of $1000.
Regular-season Wal-Mart BFL, TTT, EverStart and RCL Walleye Tour and League events
* Angler’s boat must be rigged exclusively with Garmin electronics, with at least one of the products being a qualifying unit.
* Angler must fish out of the qualifying boat for the entire event.
* Tournament director must validate boat after win (and before check is awarded) to verify installation of qualifying Garmin units.
The Garmin Grand Giveaway is available at each of the 175 FLW Outdoors tournaments in 2004, meaning that the potential exists for an additional $170,000 in payouts.
