All eyes will be on the Weather Channel as the final qualifying event for the 2005 FLW Kingfish Tour draws near. The tournament falls smack in the middle of the September hurricane season.
“It is really tough to say how it will go, because the weather is so unpredictable that time of year,” said Ric Jinkins, a Kingfish Tour pro from Apex, N.C. “It will be a great tournament if the weather cooperates.”
Anglers have a variety of fishing options to choose from out of Southport. Some may run north to Cape Hatteras. Others will go south to Georgetown, S.C., to troll and drift ribbonfish around ledges and wrecks in 40 to 100 feet of water. There also are plenty of hot spots inside 20 miles of the Southport beach, and along the east side in the vicinity of Morehead.
Jinkins’ call: 50 pounds or more to win it.
