MOLINE, Ill. – While the bite has been tough at the Mississippi River so far, don’t be surprised if a few of the 10 pro finalists bring in some better sacks of fish Saturday. The weather’s ideal for the final round of the 2005 Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour Championship, and anything the pros were saving for last will come in handy today.

“Anything can happen on the river, especially on the weekend,” said Jarrad Fluekiger, in fourth place more than 7 pounds off the lead. “And these willow cats (the popular bait here this week), they’re like candy to a walleye.”

The leader, Robert Lampman, agreed.

“I really truly think the bite’s going to turn on for everybody,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a good weigh-in, and I think spirits are going to be pretty high coming in.”

The final weigh-in will take place today at 5 p.m. Central time at the Wal-Mart store located at 3930 44th Ave. in Moline. The pros are fishing for up to $125,000 for first place.

For those who are unable to attend, FLWOutdoors.com will offer live weigh-in results, streaming audio and on-location video via FLW Live starting at 5 p.m.

The FLW Walleye Tour Family Fun Zone featuring interactive games, product samples and activities for the entire family opens in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1 p.m. All activities are absolutely free.
