Want to win a free trip to this year’s FLW Tour Championship or a host of other great prizes by simply playing an online fishing game? Well, the good news is that everyone – whether you’re a long-time player or have never even participated in the “FLW Outdoors Pro Fishing” contest before – still has a chance to win. However, the bad news is that time is quickly running out.

At 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, June 30, the final “Championship Edition” of the US Bank “FLW Outdoors Pro Fishing” online video game officially comes to an end – bringing to a close the final contest of the 2006 season.

The game – the ins and outs

Produced jointly by U.S. Bank and FLW Outdoors, the interactive onscreen computer fishing game offers players a chance to test their angling savvy in a virtual format on FLWOutdoors.com. However, like previous installments, the “Championship Edition” compels participants to make all the same tough decisions as the pros – where to fish, what lures to use and how far to cast. And just like a real tournament setting, players will be forced to operate under the same pressure-packed time constraints.

The rules of the game are simple. Players will have three minutes to catch the five largest fish in the lake. Participants start off the game by using their computer mouse to move the angler in any direction they’d like. By clicking the mouse once, players will be able to see the casting power meter – which shows the strength of the cast they would like to use. When the desired power is achieved, click the mouse again to cast. Once a cast has been made, players wait until the computer reels in their catch.

Players are allowed a maximum of five fish. When a player catches the sixth fish, he or she will be allowed to keep the fish if it is larger than the smallest fish in their livewell, which is then released. A player’s current total weight and the time left are displayed in the banner at the top of the page. A contestant’s largest single fish weight (Big Bass) will be displayed under the timer after the player has caught at least one fish.

When a player’s time has expired, that player will have the opportunity to add their high score to the leaderboard and compete for the top spot in each of the three scheduled contests. There is no limit to the number of times participants may play the game during each edition.
