Anglers ever having set their sights on pickerel know the wily nature of the walleye. But the cunning creature will be easy to find this week, as FLWOutdoors.com brings you the world’s best walleye anglers weighing in their catches live from Red Wing, Minn., during the second stop of the FLW Walleye Tour season. But bass-fishing fans need not despair: As always, FLW Live will also bring you all the action of this week’s Stren Series event taking place at Kentucky Lake.
So whether you’ve been waiting anxiously to see top-tier walleye competition unfold on your computer screen or you’re just curious to see how it compares to the bass bonanzas you’ve come to expect from FLW Live, this is the week to get online and check it out. FLWOutdoors.com will offer daily, up-to-the-second weigh-in results as well as stats about your favorite anglers May 2-5 through its FLW Live application.
Not only that, but tournament fishing’s superfans – and possibly multispecies angling enthusiasts – will have the ability to monitor both events at once, if they choose, to see how a professional walleye tournament stacks up next to a pro bass event (If you’re having trouble figuring out how to watch both weigh-ins at once, read the “Access” section below).
The buzz
Thanks to some innovative technology, tournament-fishing fans will be able to get real-time weigh-in results from the May 2-5 Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour and Stren Series Central Division events taking place on Minnesota’s Mississippi River and the Bluegrass State’s Kentucky Lake, respectively. What does that mean exactly? As soon as an angler walks across the stage, fans will be able to see those results immediately through “FLW Live™” – a popular feature at FLWOutdoors.com that brings the live weigh-in format right to your computer screen.
In a continuing effort to bring live results directly to fans who cannot attend the event in person, FLW Live will offer FLWOutdoors.com visitors the Walleye Tour leaderboard and anglers stats, being updated constantly throughout each day’s weigh-in. For Stren Series fans, FLW Live will also offer a live streaming video feed and real-time audio play-by-play for the entire weigh-in.
But that’s not the only highlight of the live weigh-in window.
At any moment during the weigh-ins, fans can search for their favorite anglers and get each day’s specific results. Throughout the weigh-in, FLWOutdoors.com visitors will receive detailed information (including angler photos) specifically related to each tournament-day weigh-in, including up-to-the-second results, current and previous days’ standings, and links to anglers’ bio pages. The pro and co-angler leaderboards will be constantly updated on FLW Live to bring fans all the latest action.
Access
To locate FLW Live, simply click on this link or go to any FLWOutdoors.com home page during weigh-in hours and click on the red bar near the top of the page indicating FLW Live is active. FLW Live is also accessible through the “More” drop-down menu at the top of each FLWOutdoors.com page. The start page will appear. Follow the directions to activate FLW Live.
This week the FLW Live start page shows the weigh-in schedules for both events, taking place simultaneously. If you’d like to monitor both, simply open two Web browser windows and activate the FLW Live application for each event separately across the two windows.
The FLW Live page is currently accessible, but the actual application will be activated shortly before each tournament weigh-in begins. Check the FLW Live schedule on the start page for specific weigh-in times.
Requirements
To run FLW Live on your computer, you will need Flash Player 7 and Windows Media Player 9. You can download both for free on the FLW Live home page by clicking on the buttons on the right-hand side. A high-speed connection is recommended for the live video stream.
