Brett Carlson guest blog: Another new record

Yesterday, Chevy pro David Fritts broke the record for the heaviest single-day catch by sacking 37 pounds, 2 ounces of Falcon Lake bass. This record spans all FLW Outdoors circuits since the company’s inception.

Today, Greg Hackney broke that same record with five bass weighing 39 pounds, 11 ounces. In addition, Prilosec pro Koby Kreiger caught 37-4 to take the No. 2 spot in the record books. Four of the top five single-day weights have now come from one event – the 2008 FLW Series East-West Fish-Off.

Believe it or not, Hackney has a 64-pound lead over his opponent, 19-year-old John Billheimer Jr. Fritts has a 50-pound lead over Cody Meyer with one day remaining. I think it’s safe to say these two anglers will be fishing the Three Rivers in Pittsburgh this July.

The other 28 spots from the Fish-Off are still mathematically up for grabs and will be determined tomorrow.
