EUFAULA, Ala. – First there was excessive rain, then mud, then more rain, and now … is that fog?

That’s correct. This morning the Walmart FLW Series official start was delayed by 40 minutes due to fog in what has already been a week of weather wonders.

With thunderstorms lighting up the pre dawn sky on day two, the last thing anyone would have expected was fog, but that’s exactly what settled across Lake Eufaula at about 7 a.m. Thursday.

During the fog delay, another spat of rain came down, and then the sun popped out for half a minute. Mother Nature is definitely sending some mixed signals, making one wonder what’s next in this BP Eastern Division event.

“I’ll tell you what’s next,” said Tom Mann Jr., currently in seventh place, “a lot more rain. I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of this yet.”

And Mann may be right. There is quite a bit of unstable weather in the southern portion of the United States, Seventh place pro Tom Mann, Jr., does not think his primary area will clear up much if the rain continues.kicking up wicked thunderstorms out of the Gulf of Mexico and sending them along a northeastern path across Florida’s panhandle, Alabama and Georgia.

“So much for my area clearing up,” Mann quipped as he laced up his hood.

“I’d give anything if it would just clear up this much,” he said, pointing to the brown water in the boat basin of Lakepoint State Park. “Where I’m fishing, it’s much worse than this.”

Despite the wild weather and a fog delay, FLW Series pros will have to batten down their hatches and stay focused on what pays the bills: catching fish.

The day-two weigh-in of the FLW Series on Lake Eufaula will begin at 3 p.m. at Lakepoint State Park.
