It’s another beautiful day here on Lake Havasu for the second day of the Rayovac FLW Series Western Division tournament presented by Mercury – too bad the fishermen aren’t sharing the same sentiments.
Morning broke with less wind than yesterday, and wind is crucial for many of the top pros to get bit. Some of the top performers from yesterday will likely slip today because of the change, opening the door to pros further down in the leaderboard.
Leader Josh Bertrand is among those struggling a bit to keep pace. He was still looking for a limit at lunchtime, but the ones he has are the right size.
Joe Uribe Jr., who sits in second place, has managed to overcome tough conditions and took advantage of a phenomenal morning bite. We caught up with him just long enough to snap a photo and estimate that his bag could be pushing 20 pounds.
The wind started blowing at around 10 o’clock, giving many anglers hope that the afternoon bite will pick up. The forecast calls for a light wind to blow the rest of the day. If the weatherman is right, those pros might get their wish. With a high near 80 degrees, the water temperature continues to climb, and more fish are pushing up shallow – another factor that should help fishing.
Today’s weigh-in should shake up the leaderboard from yesterday and make for some drama. Check back with FLW at 3 p.m. MT to see who will make the top-10 cut to fish on the final day.
