2014 Rayovac FLW Series Champion Zack Birge, whose appearance in the Central Division tournament on Kentucky Lake this week was cut short by tornadoes at his home town in Oklahoma, characterized the damage to his house as “a near miss.”
“A house down the street is gone, as are a couple of businesses about 250 yards from my family’s home,” said Birge, who resides in Blanchard, Oklahoma.
“Except for a couple of small holes in the roof and a few missing shingles, we made out alright. I was told there was one big tornado and a few smaller ones around, but apparently they pretty much hopped over us. We got lucky.”
The tornadoes swept through the southern Oklahoma region while Birge was practicing for today’s tournament on Kentucky Lake.
