MINNEAPOLIS – FLW Outdoors is proud to announce that country music star Lee Brice will perform at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., during the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship, where the first ever FLW College Fishing national champion will be crowned.
Brice will perform Sunday, April 11, at 3 p.m. at TRECS PLAZA prior to the weigh-in. Along with the concert, FLW Outdoors will host the College Fishing Festival, which runs from noon to 4 p.m. daily April 10-12, with activities including the National Guard Challenge, climbing wall and paintball. All activities including the concert are free and open to the public. Fans can also register for cash prizes presented by U.S. Bank.
Winter was anything but cold for Lee Brice. He spent the winter months opening for country music superstar Clay Walker and recently broke the Top 30 chart with his hit single “Love Like Crazy.” Brice’s first Top 30 hit came in 2007 with “She Ain’t Right” and was followed up with hit singles “Happy Endings” and “Upper Middle Class White Trash.” Brice’s debut album, “Love Like Crazy,” will be available in stores Tuesday, June 8.
Considered one of the most promising new voices in country, Brice is also proving himself as one of Nashville’s top songwriters. He has penned cuts for greats such as Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Adam Gregory and, most impressively, “More Than A Memory” for Garth Brooks, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart. Raised on gospel, he was sheltered from popular music of the day and credits Brooks as being his first major musical influence.
The 2010 National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship is the first ever College Fishing National Championship and will take place April 10-12. It is a three-day televised event, hosting the top five teams from each of five regions, 25 total teams. Teams are competing for a top award of $100,000 – $50,000 for the school they represent and $25,000 and a 177TR bass boat for their school’s bass club. The national champion automatically qualifies for the 2010 Forrest Wood Cup, where they will receive the use of a wrapped Ranger boat and Chevy truck for Cup competition and the chance to win $600,000 competing against the top pro anglers in the country.
