Meade County High School anglers Donovan Jones and Stephen Compton were crowned Kentucky High School Fishing State Champions after finishing as the highest ranked team at the Murray State High School Fishing Open April 10.Meade County High School anglers Donovan Jones and Stephen Compton were crowned Kentucky High School Fishing State Champions after finishing as the highest ranked team at the Murray State High School Fishing Open April 10. The team finished fifth overall with five bass weighing 12 pounds, 13 ounces.

For their efforts, Jones and Compton have now earned an automatic berth into the FLW Outdoors/TBF High School Fishing Regional Championship to held in conjunction with a National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional Championship on a college campus this fall.

Ranger boats will be provided for high school anglers to fish from at the regional championship, and the winners from the regional will advance to the inaugural FLW Outdoors/TBF High School Fishing National Championship held on a college campus in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing National Championship in the spring of 2012. Each team that qualifies for a regional championship and the national championship will receive a travel allowance to help offset expenses. The High School Fishing National Championship winners will also each receive a $5,000 scholarship to use at the university of their choice.

Pollitt, Sepeck win TBF High School Fishing Open Championship

Eastern Brown-Bethel Tate High School anglers Gunner Pollitt and Daniel Sepeck of Ohio took home the top overall prize – a $10,000 scholarship to Murray State University – after defeating 73 teams from nine different states to win the Murray State High School Fishing Open. Politt and Sepeck earned the title after netting a total catch of 16 pounds, 11 ounces.
