Gabriella Esperson of Whitewater, Wis., and a student at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater caught a trophy-sized largemouth in a small lake near Edgerton, Wis., last Tuesday. While her fish did not break the state record – currently 11 pounds, 3 ounces – it sure came close.
The 21-year-old member of the UW – Whitewater fishing team landed her 11.05-pound pig on a wacky-rigged soft plastic in about 8 feet of water. The fish had a length of 25.75 inches and a girth of 20.06 inches.
After some photos and measurements, the fish was released back into the lake.
