Ranger Boats to introduce Ranger Cup in 2001

October 5, 2000 • MLF • Archives

Operation Bass’ linchpin boat sponsor, Ranger Boats, has announced it will introduce a new contingency award program for all three Operation Bass tournament circuits in 2001. The program, called the Ranger Cup, will award leading competitors who own and run Ranger boats.

“Running a Ranger has many rewards, including pride of ownership, resale value and tournament-proven quality and performance,” said Randy Hopper, president of Ranger Boats. “Now there is one more: the Ranger Cup contingency program.”

Wal-Mart FLW Tour

On the elite level, Ranger Cup 2001 will use 13 qualifying events to determine its winners. The six Wal-Mart FLW Tour qualifying events, six B.A.S.S. Bassmaster Top 150s and the B.A.S.S. Megabucks tournament will comprise the qualifying events that make up Ranger Cup 2001. The top 10 anglers who accumulate the most points in all 13 events combined will receive cash payouts, with a first-place prize of $50,000.

Points will be awarded to registered Ranger Cup participants who finish in the top 50 places in the Pro Division in any of the qualifying events. Fifty points will be awarded for a first-place finish and will decrease by increments of one down to 50th place. No points will be awarded for finishes below 50th place.

EverStart Batteries Series

On the EverStart Batteries Series Ranger Cup 2001, the top 10 pro anglers who run Ranger boats will earn a payout. There will be 12 qualifying events, which are all four tournaments in each of the three EverStart divisions – Eastern, Central and Northern. Participants must declare in what division they wish to compete. The Ranger Cup will combine the three divisions and award the top 10 overall highest point leaders, with a first-place prize of $10,000 plus a 518VX Ranger boat and trailer.

Points will be awarded to registered Ranger Cup participants in the Pro Division. The maximum of 200 points will be awarded for a first-place finish. Points will decrease by increments of one down through all places with weight credit. Ranger Cup participants who do not weigh fish will not receive points.

Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League

The Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League (BFL) Ranger Cup 2001 will use all BFL tournaments as qualifying events. Ranger Cup participants who win any of the regular season, wild card or regional tournaments will collect $1,000. If the tournament winner is not a registered Ranger Cup participant, the highest-placing Ranger Cup competitor will win $500 for the tourney. Additionally, the BFL Ranger Cup will award a 518VX Comanche Ranger boat to the highest-placing Ranger Cup participant at the BFL All-American.

To qualify for any of the Ranger Cup programs, anglers must follow several guidelines. Registrants must own and use a Ranger boat for the duration of the tournament, as well as meet certain clothing and boat adornment requirements. Additionally, all Ranger Cup participants must return the official registration form before earning any points on the Ranger Cup program.
