Program will feature NFL stars, glimpse into NFC East season, IRL crew chief, angler legend
MINNEAPOLIS – The next installment of “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” on Fox Sports Radio 1190 AM will explore a broad spectrum of sporting greats, including standouts from football, racing and fishing. Two-time Wal-Mart FLW Tour Angler of the Year Clark Wendlandt and Indy Racing League crew chief Kevin Blanch are scheduled guests alongside Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Quincy Carter and running back Troy Hambrick.
Beginning Sunday at 10 a.m. CST, hosts Keith Lebowitz and Travis Smith will preview the 2002 NFC East season as well as discuss a variety of sports- and outdoor-related issues with their noted guests.
Texas native and Team Kellogg’s pro Wendlandt, winner of the FLW Tour’s Land O’Lakes Angler-of-the-Year title in 1997 and 2000, will discuss his phenomenal success in six seasons on the Wal-Mart FLW Tour. Blanch – crew chief for Sam Hornish Jr., who, at 22, became the youngest major champion of any North American open-wheel racing series – will be on hand to talk about the driver he has steered to three wins and two runner-up finishes this year.
Carter, who in 2001 was the first rookie to start the season at quarterback for the Cowboys since Troy Aikman in 1989, shares with listeners his passion for fishing. Gridiron great Deion Sanders introduced Carter to the sport last year, and he has been hooked ever since. His teammate Hambrick ranked third among NFL running backs in 2001 by averaging 5.1 yards per and rushing for a total of 579 yards. He will talk with Keith and Travis about the upcoming season.
