BENTON, Ky. – Some of FLW Outdoors’ most successful professional anglers will offer area fishing fans tournament-winning tips and techniques Saturday, May 10, when they host the Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors Fishing and Automotive Clinic presented by BFGoodrich Tires, Castrol, EverStart Batteries, 7 UP, Snickers and Fujifilm.

The clinic will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 310 W. Fifth St. in Benton. The free clinic is designed for people of all ages and skill levels, and participants are invited to ask the pros questions about fishing and automotive topics. The event precedes the fifth regular-season Wal-Mart FLW Tour event to take place May 14-17 on Kentucky Lake.

The first hour of the clinic will take place in the store parking lot and focus on specific techniques the anglers use, including tips on tying knots, casting and selecting tackle. During the second hour, anglers will move into the store, where they will answer questions, pose for photos and sign autographs. Participants can also enter a drawing for goodie bags filled with sponsor products, shirts and hats. The drawing will be held before the tournament weigh-in on Saturday, May 17 at the Benton Wal-Mart.

Presenting anglers include Team Castrol members Bobby Curtis of Siloam Springs, Ark.; David Dudley of Manteo, N.C.; Johnny McCombs of Mount Olive, Ala.; and Darrel Robertson of Jay, Okla. Team Snickers members John Sappington of Wyandotte, Okla., and David Lauer of South Bend, Ind.; Team 7 UP members Shad Schenck of Waynetown, Ind., and Mark Goines of Shady Point, Okla.; and Team Fujifilm members Joel Richardson of Kernersville, N.C., and Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. Robertson and Dudley are past winners of the lucrative Ranger M1 tournament, having taken home top prizes of $600,000 and $700,000 cash, respectively. Sappington won the 2002 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship, which landed him a check for $260,000 cash.

“Getting involved in the communities hosting the Wal-Mart FLW Tour has been a great way for sponsors to give back and to thank the anglers and tournament fans who have been loyal consumers of our products for many years,” said Castrol spokesperson Tracy Curtis. “Fishing is a wonderful family activity that has no boundaries on who can participate. We are dedicated to helping anglers of all skill levels learn new tricks of the trade and promoting the sport to a new generation of anglers.”
