GREERS FERRY, Ark. – Jeremiah Kindy of Benton claimed $2,848 as the winner of the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Arkie Division’s third regular-season stop, held Saturday on Greers Ferry Lake near Greers Ferry. Kindy led the field of 89 boaters with a five-bass catch weighing 11 pounds, 13 ounces.

Kindy caught his bass Saturday sight-fishing with a Mizmo bait. He earned an additional $1,000 from Garmin for using a fixed-mount Garmin Fishfinder or combination GPS/sounder.

Rounding out the top five boaters are Mike Lemons of Conway (five bass, 11 pounds, 1 ounce, $1,424); Greg Ault of Hot Springs (five bass, 10 pounds, 4 ounces, $968); Adam Wright of Benton (five bass, 9 pounds, 13 ounces, $740); and Brandon Rhoden of Sheridan (four bass, 9 pounds, 12 ounces, $627).

Wright also claimed a $500 bonus from Ranger Boats as the highest-finishing participant in the Ranger Cup incentive program.

Lee Chavis of Little Rock topped 89 Co-angler Division competitors with a five-bass catch weighing 10 pounds that he caught floating a Trick Worm. Chavis earned $1,424 for the win.

Rounding out the top five co-anglers are David Tierney of Fayetteville (four bass, 7 pounds, 7 ounces, $712); Richard Murray of Conway (four bass, 6 pounds, 12 ounces, $484); Lance Carter of Benton (five bass, 5 pounds, 15 ounces, $370); and Robert Morehart Sr. of Ward (five bass, 5 pounds, 13 ounces, $313).

Rhoden earned boater big-bass honors and $445 with a 3-pound, 9-ounce bass, and Daniel Armstrong of Fayetteville earned co-angler big-bass honors and $223 in his division with a 2-pound, 8-ounce bass.

The Arkie Division will make its fourth regular-season stop June 7 on the Arkansas River in Pine Bluff. The final regular-season event, a two-day Super Tournament, will be held Sept. 27-28 on Beaver Lake in Rogers. Following the regular season, the boater with the most points will be declared the Yamaha “Be the Best” points leader and awarded $1,000. The co-angler with the most points following the regular season will earn $500.

The top 30 Arkie Division boaters and co-anglers will advance to regional competition Oct. 21-25 on the Red River near Natchitoches, La., where they will go up against top competitors from the Bama, Cowboy and Gulf Coast divisions for a shot at qualifying for the Wal-Mart BFL All-American – one of the most lucrative postseason tournaments in competitive angling.

As much as $6 million will be awarded in the 2003 Wal-Mart BFL.
