DALLAS – In honor of Mother’s Day, “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” hosts Keith Lebowitz and Tony Casillas will chat Sunday with two female co-anglers on the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, Karen Savik of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Judy Israel of Clewiston, Fla. Also on the show will be former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek.
The show will air live from Sneaky Pete’s in Lewisville, Texas, host city to this weekend’s Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail two-day tournament. Lebowitz and Casillas will compete in the tournament, with any winnings going to the Tony Casillas Foundation, a college fund for minority students.
Savik, a member of Team Land O’Lakes, became a professional angler in 1995. Two years later, she became the first woman to win a professional fishing tournament in Minnesota. Today, Savik is one of about a dozen female anglers to fish as a co-angler on the FLW Tour. When she isn’t fishing, she finds time to be a wife, mother, businesswoman and outdoor guide. Israel, another member of Team Land O’Lakes, has been competing in FLW Outdoors circuits for the last seven years and made the history books in 2002 when she became the fifth woman to win an FLW Outdoors tournament, a Wal-Mart BFL event on Thousand Islands. For Israel, professional tournament fishing is a family affair; both her husband and son join her in the co-angler field. Novacek, an avid outdoorsman, is the only tight end in Cowboys history to make five Pro Bowl appearances. He will talk about football and the outdoors.
