DETROIT – Some of FLW Outdoors’ most successful professional anglers will offer tournament-winning tips and techniques in Taylor this Sunday when they host the Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors Fishing and Automotive Clinic presented by BFGoodrich Tires, Castrol, EverStart Batteries, 7 UP, Snickers and Fujifilm.
The clinic will be held from 2-4 p.m. July 20 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 755 Telegraph Road in Taylor. The free clinic is designed for people of all ages and skill levels, and participants are invited to ask the pros questions about fishing and automotive topics. The event precedes the EverStart Series Northern Division tournament that will take place July 23-26 on the Detroit River.
The first hour of the clinic will take place in the store parking lot and focus on specific techniques the anglers use, like tying knots, casting and selecting tackle. During the second hour, anglers will move into the store, where they will answer questions, pose for photos and sign autographs. Participants can also enter a drawing for goodie bags filled with sponsor products, shirts and hats. The drawing will be held July 26 before the final tournament weigh-in at the Taylor Wal-Mart.
Presenting anglers include Team Castrol member Bobby Curtis of Siloam Springs, Ark.; Team Snickers member John Sappington of Wyandotte, Okla.; Team Land O’Lakes member Carl Svebek of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and pro Rick Lisek of Springfield, Mo. Sappington won the 2002 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship, which landed him a check for $260,000 cash.
