DALLAS – A Wal-Mart FLW Tour event is taking place this week on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee, and “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” hosts Keith Lebowitz and Tony Casillas will talk with the winner of the $500,000 event – a bass pro who will have just landed a $100,000 first-place check. The duo will also talk to Ranger pro-staff guide David Vance, who will give his weekly fishing update, and Steve Ott, left wing for the Dallas Stars.
January is known as one of the toughest months to fish the “Big O,” which has traditionally been the first stop of the FLW Tour. Anglers never know what they will encounter on the lake and, with an increased field size and uncertain fishing conditions, the winning pro will have to earn the win. Fields increased from 175 pros in 2003 to 200 this season. Vance, known as one of the best guides in Texas, will give an update about Lake Fork and some tips no angler should go without.
Ott, who started his rookie season last year as a Grizzly in Utah, made his NHL playoff debut as a Star against the Edmonton Oilers in 2003. Ott, who is a native of Canada, loves spending time outdoors and grew up fishing and hunting. He will share some of his memorable outdoor experiences.
“FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” is broadcast throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma every Sunday from 8-10 a.m. Central time on Fox Sports 1190 AM KFXR in Dallas. This week the show will air live from the Lewisville Wal-Mart located at 801 W. Main St. At the store will be Tony Casillas’ Lombardi Trophy, and Casillas will be available for photos with guests after the show.
