MINNEAPOLIS – “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart,” available to listeners through FLWOutdoors.com’s on-demand service, is currently featuring a show centered on the interests of bass-fishing fans that was originally broadcast Aug. 29. Host Keith Lebowitz is joined by FLW Outdoors Chairman Irwin L. Jacobs, along with Texas Rangers outfielder and fishing enthusiast David Dellucci. Yamaha pro Sean Hoernke of Magnolia, Texas, also adds insight on angling as he joins Lebowitz as co-host of this week’s show.
Coming off the success of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship, held earlier this month in Birmingham, Ala., Lebowitz and Jacobs discuss the highlights of the $1.5 million event. Jacobs also informs listeners about what’s in store for FLW Outdoors in 2005. During the upcoming 10th anniversary of the FLW Tour, anglers will be fishing for even more money, as the overall tournament purse is raised by $800,000. Lebowitz and Jacobs discuss the importance of increased payouts in the sport, which allow more professional anglers to make a living on the water.
This week’s show also features a mix of baseball and bass-fishing discussions, thanks to an interview with Dellucci. The Rangers outfielder, who made his Major League Baseball debut in 1997, doesn’t spend all his time at the ballpark. An avid angler since childhood, he also enjoys the outdoors.
Co-host Hoernke just finished his first full season on the FLW Tour. The up-and-coming angler came out on top at the EverStart Series Central Division event on the Red River in June 2003. He also qualified for this year’s FLW Tour Championship as a rookie and finished 44th.
“FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” is broadcast throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma every Sunday from 10-11 a.m. Central time and is rebroadcast every Monday from midnight-1 a.m. on 105.3 FM in Dallas.
