Pro Chad Grigsby of Colon, Mich., picked up his second Wal-Mart FLW Tour top-10 of the season at Alabama’s Wheeler Lake in May, helping to pave the way for his runner-up finish at the Forrest L. Wood Championship in July. But his Wheeler performance was more than just a championship launching pad: He also executed a hook set caught by FSN’s cameras that was thrilling enough to earn the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award. Thanks to voters at FLWOutdoors.com, Grigsby will be awarded a $1,000 Wal-Mart shopping card for his big-bass maneuver.
FLWOutdoors.com’s voting visitors were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as filmed by FSN’s camera crews for the “Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors” TV show during the May 11-14 FLW Tour event on Wheeler Lake. Though Grigsby placed seventh at the event, compared to the No. 1 and 3 slots occupied by the other two featured Hook Set anglers, online fishing fans declared him the winner. Grigsby will receive the shopping card for the award, which, along with the contest, is presented by Eagle Claw.
Grigsby’s Hook Set Award footage, which was seen on “Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors” and FLWOutdoors.com, garnered more than twice as many votes as tournament winner Alvin Shaw’s and nearly three times as many as third-place finisher Kelly Jordon’s.
FSN provides FLWOutdoors.com with video footage of three of the best hook sets from each FLW Tour event throughout the season. The hook sets are seen on FSN’s “Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors” program, which airs Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern, and are then viewable at FLWOutdoors.com. After voting has closed for a given contest, the winner will be announced on television and through this Web site.
The Hook Set Award contest is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older who wants to go online to vote for their favorite footage. Use this article to link to the contest or access it through FLWOutdoors.com’s home page.
