MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $300,000 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series Championship held in Orange Beach, Ala. The final event of the $1.9 million FLW Redfish Series season concludes with the winning team claiming a cash prize of up to $100,000 – the largest award in the history of professional redfishing.

The “FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top-four teams are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy, and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

The FLW Redfish Series Championship is a three-day event. The entire field competes on day one and on day two, and the two-day accumulated weights determine the top 10 teams that advance to day three. The winning team is determined on day three based on the heaviest three-day accumulated weight.

Leading the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series Championship after day one are Todd Adams of Rockport, Texas, and Tommy Ramzinsky of Fulton, Texas, with two redfish that topped the scales at 13 pounds, 11 ounces. Using a slow presentation, they caught their fish in 3 to 8 feet of water on Rat-L-Traps, crankbaits and soft-plastic grubs.

Sitting in second place after the first day of competition was the team of Matthew Morel and Peter Young, both of New Orleans. The two made an hour-long run west across Mobile Bay and returned with a pair of reds weighing 12 pounds, 12 ounces. The team reported catching their fish on gold spoons and Gambler Flappin’ Shads with a Flutter Hook.

The father-son team of Pat Motal and Chad Motal, both of Kyle, Texas, finished the opening day in third place with a pair of reds weighing 12 pounds, 8 ounces. The team used spinnerbaits on structure in 3 to 4 feet of water.

Watch as the best redfish anglers in the world attempt to qualify for the final round and claim a first-place cash prize of up to $100,000.
