BENTON, Ky. – FLW Outdoors announced Wednesday its 2007 Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series schedule, which once again has the nation’s best redfish teams casting for top awards of $50,000 cash in every qualifier and $100,000 cash in the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series Championship presented by BP.
All told, FLW Redfish Series anglers will fish for $1.9 million over eight $200,000 qualifying tournaments – four in the Eastern Division and four in the Western Division – and the $300,000 no-entry-fee FLW Redfish Series Championship. Each of these tournaments will be featured in a one-hour episode of “FLW Outdoors” broadcast Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern time to 80 million FSN (Fox Sports Net) households in the United States and delivered weekly to more than 350 million households in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The top award in each qualifier includes $25,000 plus $25,000 in Ranger, Yamaha and Evinrude contingency bonuses. The top award in the championship includes $50,000 plus $50,000 in boat and engine contingency bonuses. Payouts extend through 75th place in every qualifier, which pays as much as $1,000, and through 50th place in the championship, which pays as much as $2,000. Qualifying tournaments run Thursday through Saturday with a full field of 150 boats competing on the first two days and the top five teams advancing to day three. The combined weight from all three days determines the winners, and day-three weigh-ins will be held at local Wal-Mart stores.
FLW Redfish Series competition in the Eastern Division kicks off Feb. 22-24 in Clearwater, Fla., followed by events March 22-24 in Titusville, Fla.; April 26-28 in Englewood, Fla.; and May 31-June 2 in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Western Division competition begins March 8-10 in Lafitte, La., followed by events May 10-12 in Port Aransas, Texas; June 28-30 in Cocodrie, La.; and Aug. 23-25 in Rockport, Texas.
The FLW Redfish Series Championship will be held Oct. 18-20 in Orange Beach, Ala.
The top 50 teams from each division of the 2006 FLW Redfish Series may register for the 2007 season beginning today through Jan. 9. Ranger boat owners may register beginning Jan. 10. Champion, Hydra-Sports, Seaswirl and Wellcraft boat owners may register beginning Jan. 11. All other entries will be accepted beginning Jan. 12. Teams that enter all four qualifying tournaments in a division by Jan. 12 will be given priority over teams that enter fewer than four events in a division. Entry fees for 2007 are $800 per team for each qualifying tournament.
