DETROIT – As part of the festivities surrounding the Chevy Open, the sixth and final Wal-Mart FLW Tour qualifying event on the Detroit River, July 12-15, select BP stations in the Detroit area will give fishing fans a chance to feel what its like traveling on the open water in excess of 60 mph.

Beginning Friday, June 29 at the BP station located at 100 University in Rochester, Mich., fishing and boating enthusiasts interested in test driving a Ranger boat can do so in virtual fashion – by sitting behind the wheel of the latest technological breakthrough in simulated travel – the Ranger boat simulator.

The innovative Ranger boat and fishing simulators mimic the exact action and feel of being out on the water. Simultaneously, fans will get to experience the excitement of tournament fishing as well the exhilaration that comes from piloting a Ranger boat across open waters at high speeds. Imagine the thrills and excitement of an amusement park ride combined with the non-stop action of a state-of-the-art computer video game – and you’ll start to understand what the Ranger boat and fishing simulators are all about.

Ranger boat simulators will be made available to the Detroit area from June 29 through July 15 at select BP stations (see schedule below). The simulators also will be featured July 14 and 15 at the FLW Outdoors Family Fun Zone from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cobo Center located at One Washington Blvd. in Detroit. The simulators are a one-of-a-kind experience, but best of all, participation is free of charge.
