MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday, August 19, to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for complete coverage of the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour event held on Devils Lake in Devils Lake, N.D. The third tournament of the $2.71 million season, which included a full field of 150 pros and 150 co-anglers, concludes with the winning pro claiming a cash prize of up to $100,000. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.

A brutal cold front reared its ugly head on the second day of competition carrying with it dangerously high winds. Day two of the tournament was subsequently cancelled due to unsafe waters. With the cold front came promises of a tougher bite due to colder water temperatures. But the front was no Dennis Jeffrey and Philip Zimpel hold up their biggest fish from opening day.match for pro Dennis Jeffrey, who caught 18 pounds, 6 ounces on day three and positioned himself for his first Walleye Tour win. Jeffrey, who won the Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year award in 2004, starts each day by pitching small crankbaits to shallow banks. That was his No. 1 spot during prefishing, but it produced zero fish on day three. All his walleyes came by trolling larger crankbaits in water approximately 16 feet deep in Pelican Bay. The fishing was so good he was throwing back 20-inchers by 10 a.m. With a two-day total of 10 walleyes weighing 43 pounds, 5 ounces, the Garrison, N.D., pro has nearly a 3-pound lead with one day of competition remaining.

Mississippi River rat John Renschen is continually manufacturing hefty five-walleye limits. In the process, he is making a steady ascension up the leaderboard. After catching five walleyes on day Pro John Renschen and co-angler Larry Oleson hold up part of their day-one limit.three that weighed 18 pounds, 1 ounce, Renschen is up to second with a total weight of 40 pounds, 11 ounces. On day one, the Red Wing, Minn., pro fished slip corks with leeches in Black Tiger Bay. Within the first 15 minutes of opening day, Renschen had 15 pounds in the livewell. Day three was a different story as he had to retreat to East Bay and throw crankbaits.

Also in contention is bobber extraordinaire Pete Harsh. In years past, Harsh has caught several giant limits, but has never put together three consistent days. Harsh finished second on Devils Lake in 2006 Pete Harsh and his black lab Shadow prepare for the day-four takeoff.and 11th in 2005. In each of those events, he was on tournament-winning fish until high winds squelched his hot bobber bite. This time around he has a 10-walleye total of 39 pounds, 14 ounces. Identified as an angler who fishes to win, Harsh has sacrificed a few checks from time to time. But when his dicey strategy works, it works brilliantly. A four-time PWT winner, watch as this veteran walleye pro swings for the fence one last time in search of his first Walleye Tour victory.
