GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Guntersville March 13 for the second of five stops in the Choo Choo Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Guntersville is smoking right now,” said tournament director Rob Vannerson. “I’ve heard a report that somebody caught a 33-pound stringer this past weekend.”

Vannerson said the hot bait on Guntersville right now is a lipless crankbait fished in 4 to 6 feet of water anywhere close to creeks. Vannerson noted many fish were being caught on a crawdad-patterned XCalibur One Knocker.

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Lake Guntersville State Park located at 7966 Alabama State Highway 227 in Guntersville, Ala. Takeoff will be at 6 a.m., while weigh-in is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Guntersville BFL tournament is being hosted by the Marshall County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
