CLINTON, Mo. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Truman Lake July 10 for the fourth of five stops in the Ozark Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Figuring out the water levels will be key to winning this tournament,” said FLW Tour pro Chad Brauer of Osage Beach, Mo., who is a second generation pro angler. “I believe the water right now is high. If the water continues to rise, then the fish are going to be closer to shore. However, if the water is falling, the fish are going to be hanging around the last bunch of bushes where they typically hide when levels are at or around normal levels. It will be the guy who can figure that out who will do well in this tournament.

“Topwater baits like the buzzbait will be good for the early bite. I would be throwing around flooded bushes and willow trees. In the late morning and early afternoon, I would switch to a 10-inch worm and jigs inside the bushes. If they are running water, it will create a current and this will help make the fish more – and a late afternoon bite may come into play.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Bucksaw Resort & Marina located at 670 South East 803 Road in Clinton, Mo. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Truman Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Bucksaw Marina.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
