MAYSVILLE, Ky. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to the Ohio River, July 24 for the third of five stops in the Buckeye Division series. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“If you get five bites you better execute and catch each one, because the fishing is going to be tough,” said FLW Tour pro Christian Romans of Carrollton, Ky., who won a BFL event on the river. “Any moving water will help the anglers, but it is tough to find. The topwater bite will be good in the morning, but once the sun gets hot it will die.

“I think the tournament is going to be won in the main river, either by lay downs or stick-ups; however the creeks could play a role especially if an angler can get on something good by flipping a small jig or by using small finesse worms. It will probably take only 8-10 pounds to win this thing.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Maysville River Park Marina located at East Kentucky Extension in Maysville, Ky. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division league circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
