RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Dardanelle June 11 for the fourth of five fishing tournaments in the Arkie Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be fishing for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Dardanelle’s been fishing really well lately,” said Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape pro Ray Scheide of Dover, Ark. “The lake’s been coming back strong and even with the rain and flooding the fishing’s been real phenomenal.”

Scheide said the water color of the fishery should allow anglers to fish to their strengths and the tournament could be won either shallow or deep.

“Topwater frogs, ChatterBaits and flipping are going to dominate the shallow bite, but it could be a good ledge bite as well,” Scheide said.

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Lake Dardanelle State Park located at 100 State Park Drive in Russellville, Ark. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Dardanelle BFL tournament is being hosted by the Russellville Advertising & Promotion Commission.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
