Dense fog, limited visibility put anglers in an indefinite holding pattern before the start of day-one competition

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. – A thick blanket of fog rolled into the Gulfport, Miss., area delaying the start of takeoff for the 350 anglers participating in the Wal-Mart FLW Tour event on the Pascagoula River. The dense fog warning effectively put the 6:30 a.m. start on hold for at least a few hours.

Operation Bass officials said that they would resume competition as soon as it was safe for the anglers to proceed. However, it was unclear exactly how long it would take for the fog and misty conditions to clear. Unofficial, updated takeoff estimates ranged from 9 to 11 a.m., but nothing was certain with humidity levels approaching 100 percent and visibility steadily declining.

Today’s weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. at the Indian Point Marina located off I-10 in Gautier, Miss.
