FLW anglers get hit with dense fog at takeoff, top-10 cut to be announced after today’s competition

ROGERS, Ark. – FLW anglers ran into a giant roadblock this morning as an incredibly dense fog bank descended upon Prairie Creek Marina, postponing the scheduled 6:45 a.m. start time until at least 9 a.m. – perhaps longer. With visibility less than 30 yards from the vantage point of the marina, hundreds of anglers were forced to put their fishing aspirations on hold as tournament officials waited for the fog to dissipate. The number-one concern, according to FLW officials, was the safety of the anglers.

Although fog delays are not uncommon at Beaver Lake, the chilly temperatures and pea-soup thick fog served to dampen the hopes of any angler who turned in a subpar performance in yesterday’s competition. Other anglers who had planned to make a long run to get to their prime fishing holes may also be forced to reconsider their strategy as there will be far less fishing time to make up ground during today’s competition.

Currently, Russ Moran of Mufreesboro, Tenn., leads the Pro Division with a total catch of 17 pounds, 8 ounces, while Kelly Greer of Green Forest, Ark., stands atop the co-angler leaderboard with a catch of 11 pounds, 9 ounces.

FLW action continues at today’s weigh-in, scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. at the Prairie Creek Marina, located at 1 Prairie Creek Marina Drive in Rogers, Ark.
