Anglers get off to early start on final day of $185,000 EverStart tour event on Kentucky Lake

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. – In an effort to avoid congestion with a host of weekend tournaments scheduled today for Kentucky Lake, Operation Bass officials allowed the finalists to get an early jump on the competition. Although takeoff was officially scheduled for 6 a.m., EverStart boaters were given the green light to proceed past the takeoff checkpoint shortly after 5:35 a.m.

“There are as many as 10 different weekend tournaments scheduled for Kentucky Lake today. And I wanted to make sure that these guys got onto the lake as soon as possible,” said Jerry Stakely, EverStart Series tournament director. “I usually try to start a little bit earlier on Saturday.”

The extra fishing time – approximately 30 minutes total – could be a boon for anglers who plan on running a long way during today’s finals. But then again, the extra time could be just as useful for anglers who have exhausted their previous fishing holes and are still searching for new bass habitats.

The top prize in the Pro Division is worth $15,000 and a new Ranger boat while the top prize in the Co-Angler Division is worth $6,000.

Today’s final weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 310 West 5th Street in Benton, Ky.
