Vestiges of tropical storm and severe weather greet anglers during takeoff
GREENVILLE, Miss. – With Tropical Storm Allison delivering a string of severe weather patterns over many of the Gulf Coast states, more than 350 raingear-clad anglers suited up in defiance of the weather, officially kicking off the start of the third EverStart Series Central Division tour stop shortly after 6 a.m.
As thunderstorms threatened to make for some very wet conditions, boaters made their way past “casino row” – a parade of gambling venues lining the shores near the Washington Street Boat Ramp – before heading out onto the open waters of Lake Ferguson in their quest for the tournament championship.
Anglers in the Pro Division will be battling for the top prize of $15,000 and a new Ranger boat while co-anglers will be gunning for a first-place prize of $6,000.
Today’s weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington Street Boat Ramp located off Main Street in downtown Greenville, Miss.
