EverStart anglers gear up for final cut as semifinal round of competition commences on Lake Ontario
CLAYTON, N.Y. – Although the horrific winds that plagued anglers throughout yesterday’s competition have all but dissipated, the pressure of winning the EverStart championship on Lake Ontario has now supplanted the weather as the field’s greatest foe. With $15,000 and new Ranger boat awaiting the first-place finalist in the Pro Division and $6,000 earmarked for the co-angler champion, strategy, technique and execution will be paramount to success during today’s contest.
As the 60 remaining anglers made their way past French Creek Marina and onto the open waters of Lake Ontario shortly after 5:30 a.m., they were greeted by bright, sunny skies and virtually no wind – a welcome respite from yesterday’s difficult and aggravating conditions. However, there will be little time to rejoice. With the tournament field in both divisions scheduled to be whittled down to the top-10 finalists after today’s weigh in, there is clearly little room for error.
Today’s weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. at the French Creek Marina located at 250 Wahl Street in Clayton, N.Y.
