2001 EverStart Championship kicks off under perfect skies, heightened anticipation
FLORENCE, Ala. – With a beautiful sunrise serving as a picturesque backdrop and calm weather conditions forecast throughout the day, 324 anglers from 32 states made their way past McFarland Park Marina shortly after 6:30 a.m. to kick off the start of the 2001 EverStart Championship. The four-day event, scheduled to take place from Nov. 7-10 at Pickwick Lake, brings together some of the best anglers in the nation for a chance to compete for $325,000 in prize money.
Anglers in the Pro Division will be competing for the top prize of $25,000 and a new, fully equipped Ranger boat valued at $35,000. The first-place winner in the Co-angler Division will bring home $10,000 as well a new Ranger boat valued at $15,000. Regular-season tournament winners and the top 50 pros and top 50 co-anglers from the EverStart Eastern, Northern and Central divisions qualified for this year’s year-end championship.
The championship will follow an elimination format. After the first two days of competition, the field will be whittled down to the top 10 pros and top 10 co-anglers. The Pro Division continues with semifinal action on Friday. The co-angler champion will be crowned that day as well. On Saturday, Nov. 10, the top-5 pros remaining in the competition will compete for the top prize and prestigious title of 2001 EverStart Champion.
Today’s weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. at McFarland Park Marina located on James M. Spain Drive, just off Hwy. 20 in Florence, Ala.
