Pro field hopes to survive top-five cut while co-anglers vie for title

FLORENCE, Ala. – With sunny and hazy conditions dominating the early morning landscape, the top-10 pros and co-anglers set out past McFarland Park Marina for the open waters of Pickwick Lake shortly after 8 a.m. However, while the weather forecast called for calm conditions once again, there was a heightened level of anticipation among the anglers as they kicked off today’s competition.

To be sure, there is plenty on the line in both divisions. For the pros, only the anglers returning with the five best stringers will advance to tomorrow’s final round of competition. For the co-anglers, today is their finals as a champion will be crowned shortly after the 5 p.m. weigh in. With $60,000 in cash and prizes earmarked for the first-place winner in the Pro Division and approximately $35,000 waiting for today’s co-angler victor, an intense day of competition is surely in the offing.

Today’s weigh-in is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. at the Florence Wal-Mart Supercenter on Hough Road.
