Day two of the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida Lake promises plenty of turnover on the leaderboard.

Though sunny skies have prevailed since takeoff, the wind freshened considerably as the day has worn on. Even around 10:30 a.m., Oneida was still as slick as a puddle and frustrating a fair number of pros. Since then, a steady east wind has gotten up and the conditions are perhaps as good as they could be for fishing. As for techniques, umbrella rigs are seeing a lot of action today, but there are still plenty of pros tossing topwaters and drop-shot rigs.

At about 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning Michael Hall had two keepers in the box. Today, at that same time, he hadn’t had a bite, and by 11 o’clock he’d only mustered two keepers. Tied for second with Cory Johnston, Zachary Cappon was also struggling, with a few lost fish to his credit, he’d only just boxed his fourth bass at about 11:30. It took Johnston until 8:30 to catch his first, but he certainly had plenty of time left to add more. Elsewhere from the top five, Jeff Coble was struggling mightily, even though he was able to run anywhere he wanted, he only had one keeper by midmorning.

Things get a lot more interesting down the standings a bit. Starting the day in 19th, Lawrence Mazur is almost sure to move up – by around 10 a.m. he already had nearly 18 pounds of smallmouth and was still catching more. Fishing nearby, Ian Renfrew had around 14 pounds of largemouth and seems on pace to move up. Finally, Lucas McDaniel was throwing a topwater early and says he has 15 pounds in the boat.

With changed conditions and plenty of pros down in the standings catching them, you’ll for sure want to tune in for weigh-in.
