The final day of the Costa FLW Series Southwester Division event presented by Lowrance on Fort Gibson has been markedly different from the first two.

Gone are the bluebird skies and blustery winds of days one and two. Instead, anglers fished in a light breeze with a mix of clouds and sun. Most impactful, though, are the minimal current and lower lake level. While days one and two saw swift current starting around 11 and 9 a.m., respectively, day three has thus far seen only a mild flow starting around 11:30.

Keystone Light pro Jeff Sprague hoped the overcast skies that greeted the 7 a.m. takeoff would bode well for a topwater bite. He started on a rock bank within eyesight of the takeoff, but the reaction baits failed to produce and he ended up running up the Grand River, where many others fished.

Derek Fulps and top co-angler Tate Brumnett each have a few key fish already — including an estimated 6-pounder for Fulps. Fulps has been fishing a large sunken tree that’s providing bass with cover, feeding opportunities and current breaks when the water is running.

The bite has been significantly slower today and Fulps says he has to finesse the fish more than he did the first two days.

Elsewhere, others using a mix of crankbaits, flipping baits and even umbrella rig to try and get cooking on the final day. Jim Tutt, who started the day in ninth place, had a solid limit by mid-morning and might well move up. Otherwise, we’re looking at a good amount of leaderboard shuffling today, although the top spots appear solid.

With a new Ranger and some big checks on the line, you'll want to tune in for the final weigh-in at 4:30 p.m. CT!
