Wal-Mart BFL All-American, May 28-31

“The key to winning the BFL All-American on the Mobile Delta will be watching the tide,” said FLW Tour pro Mike Wurm of Hot Springs, Ark. “Fish relate to the tide because when it is moving, and forage is easier to catch.”

Bass will be in postspawn patterns but won’t be very deep due to the tidal water. Many anglers will likely run up the Tensaw River to avoid brackish water. Creeks and bayous abound in the river and provide countless opportunities to catch quality bass.

One productive pattern from past tournaments is to fish a 4-inch worm in grape with a powder-blue tail against the reeds. Fishing wood may also be productive. But anglers must pull hooked bass out of the water fast, as the wood in this system is covered with barnacles that easily cut most line.
