If David Walker didn’t already carry such a long history of success in FLW Outdoors events, people would be calling 2006 a breakout year for the Sevierville, Tenn., pro. The veteran bass angler added three more top-10 finishes to his illustrious bass-fishing career this year, and they were at the highest level of competition. After a remarkable tournament on the Wal-Mart FLW Tour at Kentucky Lake, Walker can now add Eagle Claw Hook Set Award winner to his sterling resume.

Walker netted a fourth-place finish at the FLW Tour event on Pickwick Lake in March and then followed it up with a seventh-place tour finish on Kentucky Lake, where he captured the golden hook set, in mid-May before grabbing a sixth-place Wal-Mart FLW Series finish on Old Hickory Lake in early June. Add to that his recent Eagle Claw Hook Set Award as chosen by the people, and it is clear Walker is riding an incredible wave of momentum in 2006.

Walker handily beat out two FLW Tour stalwarts for the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award at Kentucky Lake – including the winner and runner-up of that event – drawing the most votes from fishing fans who liked the look of his hook set as filmed by TV cameras earlier this year. In the face of solid hook sets from fellow competitors Steve Kennedy, tournament winner, and Terry Bolton, runner-up, Walker’s taped catch still managed to snare the most online votes. FSN’s cameras captured Walker’s impressive catch, and FLWOutdoors.com visitors watching the Hook Set Award footage helped him earn a David Walker says hi to the fans in Florence as he takes the stage for Saturday's weigh-in.$500 gift card to Wal-Mart with their votes.

Eagle Claw Hook Set Award voters were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as filmed by the camera crews of FSN (Fox Sports Net) for the “FLW Outdoors” TV show during the May 10-13 FLW Tour event on Kentucky Lake near Benton, Ky. Fishing fans gave Walker the hook-set nod, and he will receive the shopping card for the award, which, along with the contest, is presented by Eagle Claw.

Though Bolton and Kennedy finished the online contest nearly neck and neck, it was Walker’s Hook Set Award footage, which was seen on “FLW Outdoors” on FSN and FLWOutdoors.com, that wowed fishing fans visiting the Web site.

FSN provides FLWOutdoors.com with video footage of three of the best hook sets from each FLW Tour event throughout the season. The hook sets are seen on FSN’s “FLW Outdoors” program, which airs Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern, and are then viewable at FLWOutdoors.com. After voting has closed for a given contest, the winner will be announced on television and through this Web site.

The Hook Set Award contest is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older who wants to go online to vote for their favorite footage. Use this article to link to the contest or access it through FLWOutdoors.com’s home page in the left-hand navigation column.
