To say that bass pro Scott Suggs has had a good year would be a massive understatement. The Bryant, Ark., native followed up $58,000 in career earnings on the 2007 Wal-Mart FLW Tour with the biggest payday the sport has ever seen – his $1 million Forrest Wood Cup win on Lake Ouachita in his home state. Now Suggs can add yet another chip to his pile – the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award.

The event that just keeps on giving for Suggs is the Forrest Wood Cup, where one of his million-dollar hookups was captured by FSN’s camera crew. Fishing fans then had the chance to stack Suggs’ hook set up against those of two other bass fishing luminaries: two-time FLW Tour Angler of the Year Clark Wendlandt and former Cup champion and all-time FLW Outdoors money winner David Dudley. But it was the year of Suggs, as FLWOutdoors.com visitors liked the look of his bass-fishing encounter the best.

Scott Suggs sets the hook during the finals of the Forrest Wood Cup.It was a close contest, with both Wendlandt and Dudley in the hunt, but fans ultimately handed the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award to Suggs. Those casting online ballots in the contest viewed fishing footage from the Forrest Wood Cup that appeared both on the “FLW Outdoors” TV show on FSN (Fox Sports Net) as well as at FLWOutdoors.com. For his winning hook set, Suggs earned a $500 Wal-Mart shopping card.

Eagle Claw Hook Set Award voters were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as captured by camera crews during the Aug. 2-5 Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs, Ark. The contest and award are presented by Eagle Claw. Be sure to check out the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award contest next year to view more great hookups from the sport’s greatest pros and vote for your favorites.

FSN provides FLWOutdoors.com with video footage of three of the best hook sets from each FLW Tour event throughout the season. The hook sets are seen on FSN’s “FLW Outdoors” program, which airs late Sunday morning or at noon Easter time in most markets (check local listings), and are then viewable at FLWOutdoors.com. After voting has closed for a given contest, the winner will be announced on television and through this Web site.

The Hook Set Award contest is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older who wants to go online to vote for their favorite footage. Use this article to link to the contest or access it through the graphic link midway down FLWOutdoors.com’s home page.
