GROVE, Okla. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Grand Lake June 5 for the third of five stops in the Okie Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“The fish are postspawn now and starting to begin their summer pattern,” said FLW pro Jason Christie of Park Hill, Okla., who has five BFL wins at Grand Lake. “I would be doing some ledge fishing around the river channels with crankbaits and big worms in about 10 to 15 feet of water. The bigger fish are going to be found out deep on the ledges.

“A wild-card shot would be to run the river and fish shallow,” Christie added.

Water depths are about 3 feet high right now, according to Christie. However, he believes that the lake should start to clear up and be back to normal depths by the time the tournament starts.

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Grove City Ramp located at 1007 N. 16th St. W. in Grove, Okla. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Grand Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
