Whenever you’re sight-fishing in shallow water and moving around, you never want to take your eyes off of a potential target if you can help it. The reason is simple: You might lose track of it.
I have two Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchors on my boat and the best thing about my setup is that I can engage them without ever having to look away from whatever it was that attracted my interest. I have them synchronized with a dual remote control that I keep on a belt loop or, in cooler weather, hooked to my jacket, so I don’t have to wonder where it is. All I have to do is reach down, hit the remote and lower the Talons.
Having two Talons means there is no pivot point. I don’t have to worry about the boat turning in the wind or from forward momentum and changing my casting perspective when I want to cast in a hurry.
