The FLW Redfish Series Western Division closes out the season Sept. 23-24 at what many consider to be the premier destination in the country for numbers of burly red drum – Venice, La.
“It’s definitely one the best, if not the very best of all – anywhere,” said Rick Adams, a seasoned redfish pro from Harvey, La. “Everybody who comes here loves this place. It’s a world-class fishery.”
Venice is unique from many destinations because it offers anglers a mixed bag of opportunities to go after reds in water as skinny as 8 inches or as deep as 20 feet on the same day. You can catch fish around grass in backwater lakes and in the Mississippi River, itself, using a variety of techniques and lures such as jigs, plastics, topwaters and spinners.
“The key is going to be finding the baitfish – mullet, menhaden and crawfish,” Adams said.
Adams’ call: 30 to 32 pounds to win.
