PENNSYLVANIA ANGLER WINS RED MAN TOURNAMENT ON CAYUGA

SENECA FALLS, N.Y., (July 12, 1999) Ted Oman of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, took first place, $4789, plus 50 CITGO Challenge Points for winning the Red Man Northeast Division qualifier held Sunday on Cayuga.

Oman brought in a five bass limit weighing 14 pounds, 1 ounces to top a field of 356 anglers competing for $19,690. Oman fished weedlines in 13 feet of water in the mid and south areas of the lake. He used a Berkley Power Tube in green/pumpkin color. Second place and $2395 went to Matthew Martin of Manlius, New York, for a five bass limit weighing 13 pounds, 8 ounces. He fished in shallow water using a jig & pig.

Rounding out the top positions were: (3) Kenneth Witter, five bass, 13-7, $1405; (4) Andrew Kartesz, Ludlow, PA, five bass, 12-15, $901; (5) Randy Troiani, Dickson City, PA, five bass, 12-13, $854.

Ed Wirth of Macungie, PA, won the Abu Garcia Big Bass Award of $1,000 for a 5 pound, 10 ounce bass. Wirth is also leading the Northeastern Division’s Ranger Millennium big bass race for the year with a bass weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces. The Ranger boat owner who catches the largest bass in each Red Man division over the course of the season, will qualify to enter the Ranger M1 Millennium tournament.

Andrew Kartesz of Ludlow, PA, won the Berkley Powerbait award a package of baits valued at $325 for the highest weight caught on Powerbait or Frenzy lures with 12 pounds, 15 ounces.
