Duracell pro-team angler Keith Pace is accustomed to stiff competition. After all, he fishes against the best bass anglers in the world on the Wal-Mart FLW Tour. But recently, his family confronted a much more unyielding foe – cancer. Last week, Pace’s wife, India, succumbed to cancer after a taxing battle.

India was originally diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer on Aug. 18, 2006. She immediately underwent chemotherapy, but the cancer spread to her brain that fall. Although she is no longer suffering, the Pace family is facing considerable medical expenses in the wake of her tragic passing.

To help, the P&G pro team (Prilosec, Folgers, Pringles, Duracell) has come together to organize a fundraiser. They’ve created a Web site in India’s honor (www.beyondanglers.com) and are selling pink T-shirts that read “Tough times call for Teamwork.” These shirts will be for sale at the P&G booth of the Family Fun Zone at the upcoming FLW Tour event on Lewis Smith Lake in Jasper, Ala., April 3-6.

The Fun Zone is open to the public April 5-6 from noon to 6 p.m. and is located at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex at 2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. N. in Birmingham. FLW Outdoors has agreed to purchase the shirts to defray the costs. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the tournament. For those unable to attend, purchases and donations can be made at (beyondanglers.com.

To those who knew India, she was a blessing and an inspiration. Whether it is through prayer, a purchase of a T-shirt or a monetary donation, the Pace family and Team P&G thank you for your support.
