MINNEAPOLIS – FLW Outdoors, the world’s leading marketer of competitive fishing tournaments, is pleased to announce the addition of Dennis Green to its new, live television broadcast on PAX TV.

Green, former head coach of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and longtime bass angler, will join the broadcast team as a TV fishing personality for “FLW Outdoors,” the groundbreaking program that – for the first time in history – will bring live competitive angling to network television.

“Fishing is my passion,” Green says. “It represents family values, kids and spending quality time in the outdoors. Plus, the timing for this opportunity couldn’t be better.”

Green will join hosts Carlton Wing, Taylor Carr and Charlie Evans in bringing the FLW Outdoors’ first-of-its-kind, live fishing programming to TV audiences. FLW Outdoors’ flagship program is the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the world’s richest professional bass-fishing tournament series. In 2002, the Wal-Mart FLW Tour will award $5.1 million to anglers over the course of the seven-tournament season.

FLW Outdoors also oversees the $2.8 million EverStart Series, $6.4 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, $1 million Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail, $2.9 million Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Circuit and $3.6 million Ranger M1. Overall, FLW Outdoors will award up to $22 million to competitive anglers in 2002.

“Fishing is the fastest-growing sport today,” says Irwin Jacobs, chairman of FLW Outdoors. “Fishing literally has no boundaries. You can be young or old, male or female, tall or short, any race, religion or nationality. FLW Outdoors and fishing exemplify a clean, all-American sport. Dennis Green is a natural fit to our long-term vision and we are proud to be associated with him.”

Green, an avid bass angler since his youth, has hosted his own local bass-fishing tournament on the waters of Lake Minnetonka near Minneapolis. He says he looks forward to lending his fishing expertise to FLW Outdoors while at the same time enriching his own passion for the outdoors.

“I just really enjoy the sport and enjoy being outdoors riding around in the bass boat,” says Green. “I watch a lot of bass fishing on TV myself, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it.”

The “FLW Outdoors” show is set to debut its live broadcast on PAX TV Saturday, Jan. 19 and will feature Green. “FLW Outdoors” is a family-friendly outdoor news magazine that, in addition to showcasing live fishing tournaments, will feature guest appearances by outdoor sports personalities and celebrities. The show will air every Saturday at 3 p.m. EST, 2 p.m. CST and 3 p.m. PST on PAX TV.
